Technologies: Pager

Indesign's pager design team has developed pager-based data reporting systems. These microcontroller pager systems utilize either the Smart Sync or Advantra pager modules and communicate via ReFLEX® 25 and ReFLEX® 50 protocols on SkyTel and Arch networks. The pagers transmit at 1, 1.5, or 2 watts using externally mounted antennas. These pager systems monitor various real-time data inputs and provide bi-directional, encoded, binary data to Internet-based control systems. These data monitors also send and receive control and configuration data to and from the control system using the Wireless Communications Transfer Protocol (WCTP).

Indesign also has experience with 1-way paging using the FLEX® and POCSAG protocols. Our pager design team designed a high-end telephone set capable of using a POCSAG or FLEX® 1-way pager module depending on the end market for the telephone. This telephone set had a 10-line LCD that was used for programming, name and number Caller ID display, and menu-based navigation of other user features. Integration of paging technology added the capability to receive and display advertising, news, voice-mail indication, and text messages. Users could respond to the advertising, voice-mail, or text messages by dialing phone numbers that were downloaded with the messages.

Our pager design solutions have included the following technologies:

  • Smart Sync, Advantra, and POCSAG pager modules
  • 1-way and 2-way paging
  • FLEX®, ReFLEX25® and ReFLEX50® protocols
  • SkyTel and Arch networks
  • Sending binary data packets over pager networks
  • Communicating via WCTP over pager networks

We have the knowledge and experience to provide the pager design solutions you need for your application.
